'Mack Wrestles' Featured at Tribeca Film Festival
It’s not everyday Full English Post gets the opportunity to head to the Tribeca Film Festival to experience our sonic involvement on the big screen. This year, we had the pleasure of working on Mack Wrestles - a documentary short featured at this year’s screenings. Entered under the festival’s Sports Shorts category, this honest and emotional film takes the audience behind the scenes as a gifted athlete from Euless, Texas, struggles against the outside forces that stigmatize transgender athletes.
Full English worked closely with directors Erin Sanger and Taylor Hess in the post-production stages of the film to create powerful, yet subtle sound design with a crisp final mix to fully engage viewers and elevate this passionate story.
On top of being featured at Tribeca, Mack Wrestles has screened at dozens of other film festivals including SXSW earlier in the year. It won Grand Jury Award at the Dallas International Film Festival and is to be aired on ESPN as part of their 30 for 30 documentary series.
When the directors kindly invited the Full English team to watch the New York Premiere at the beginning of May in lower Manhattan, we just couldn’t refuse a trip over the East River. The film screened alongside three other inspirational sports docs and a Q&A with the directors afterward revealed the films’ inspirations, how subjects were approached, and techniques used in the creation of each piece.
Keep your eyes and ears peeled for this one, coming to your screens later this year!
